OVERVIEW The AM1032 Mixer & Distributor is inspired by the 1032 module that ARP announced in 1970 for the 2500 Modular Synthesizer, but which never progressed to a prototype stage. It is  a complex module designed to be at the centre of a large modular system, and is especially effective when used live.

Not much is known about the original ARP module, except that it had eight VCA’s, was voltage controlled and could be configured as 1 into 8 or 8 into 1.

DESCRIPTION The 20P wide AM1032 takes the routing control of the ARP 1050 and integrates it into eight linear VCA channels, each with a dedicated external voltage control and manully controlled GAIN.

The module can be used as an 8 into 1 audio mixer, with any or all of the eight inputs selected by illuminated push buttons. The intended output channel can also be selected but only one at a time.

The module can also be used as a 1 into 8 audio signal distributor, with any one input channel selected at a time, and any or all output channels selected using the illuminated push buttons.

The module can be configured as a single 8:1/1:8 or as a dual 4:1/1:4, just like the ARP 1050. The signal paths are DC coupled and can be used with either audio or CV signals. The mode of the AM1032 remains the same in dual configuration.

A fifth mode, interpolating scanner (SCAN), splits the channels into a 4:1 (mixer) in parallel with a 1:4 (distributor) . Each set of channels can be indpendently scanned  with external voltage control of the first GAIN control knob or each set. This mode cross fades across the four channels, with the option of switching off a channel to create empty spaces in the cross fades.

This is a complex module that has taken a lot of engineering to fit into just 20HP and be so flexible. We hope you love it!

CONNECTIONS The module has twenty four 3.5 mm jack sockets on the anodised aluminium front panel:

• CV1 to CV8 - 0 to +10V control voltages that modify the gain of each channel
• Input 1 to 8 - Audio or CV signals, maximium 20V p-t-p
• Output 1 to 8  - Audio or CV signals, maximium 20V p-t-p

Sixteen momentary switches with green LED's indicate when an input or output channel is active,  XOR logic means only one can be active in the relavant mode (Mix/Distribute).

The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard 16-way Doepfer power cable.
