AM8200 SH02 VCO
Description This is replica of the voltage controlled oscillator in the Roland SH-2 monophonic synthesizer introduced in 1978. Stable and accurate VCO's made this a fantastic sounding monosynth, which was very popular with nearly 7000 sold over 3 years.
Euro Rack Module: 10HP wide

The AMSynths circuit is close to the original, except for Tempco based matched transistor pair replacing the heated uA726 chip, as the exponential generator. This improves warm up time and precision. Original components have been selected, along with a few careful upgrades:
- 1% polystyrene integrator capacitor
- SSM2212 matched transistor pair
- Precision 10V voltage reference
The panel design has been refreshed with LED sliders for Tune (fine tuning), Frequency Modulation and Pulse Width. A rotary switch selects from a five octave pitch range, and a rotary pot controls coarse pitch. There is miniature slide switch for selecting the Pulse Width Modulation source (manual, external).
There are individual waveform outputs (Sawtooth Square, Pulse, Sine and Sub), which enables them to be mixed together (the AM8002 Audio Mixer is suggested). The square and pulse waveforms are accurately trimmed to precisely 50%, which also enures a perfect sine wave.
The Pulse Width can be adjusted manually or by a CV signal from 50% to 5%.
We suggest using the VCO in pairs, as in the Roland SH-2, to create fat bass and screaming lead sounds. The AM8100 works at its best with the AM8102 VCF and AM8103 VCA & ADSR modules.
