8 HP | AM1004P OSC MIX | User Manual (PDF) | ModularGrid | You Tube

OVERVIEW This 8HP module expands the capability of the Behringer 1004 VCO by adding the waveform mixer from the original ARP 1004P. The module delivers all five waveforms independently, as well as mixing them into a single output.

NOTE: A SMALL AMOUNT OF SOLDERING IS REQUIRED

DESCRIPTION The AM1004P module enables the Behringer 1004 module to be transformed from a T (toggle) version into a P (potentiometer version). A small daughter board is attached to the rear of the Behringer 1004, and five small wires soldered to the individual waveform outputs. They attach to the middle of each toggle switch, on the rear of the PCB. The daughter board accurately attaches to the rear PCB using 5mm stand-offs and the original Behringer M3 screws.

A rear mounted 6-way IDC cable connects this daughter board to the rear of the AM1004P module, where the individual outputs are available on jack sockets. Each waveform can also be mixed, using five small trimmer potentiometers, into the output channel, which has an overall MIX LEVEL potentiometer. and two mix jack socket outputs.

The AMSynths AM1004P fills in a piece of history by recreating the original ARP design using a Behringer 1004 module as a basis for expansion. The module is usually placed to the right of the B1004, but longer cables can be used to position the AM1004P anywhere in your Eurorack system.

CONNECTIONS There are seven 3.5 mm jack sockets on the anodised aluminium front panel:

  • Sine, Triangle, Square, Sawtooth and Pulse - individual waveform outputs
  • Mix Outputs (x2) - mixed waveform outputs
  • Rear Input - 6-way IDC shrouded socket

The module comes with the daughter board, a 6-way ribbon cable, 2x M3 5mm plastic spacers, a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard 10-way Doepfer power cable.

AM 1004 P

Module works well, however , no directions on installing the daughter board. I already had an outboard module that allowed each waveform too be used simultaneously (same as yours but without mixing capability ) . If I hadn't had this sub module there is no way I would have known how to install the AM 1004P daughter board. Looking forward to the Aries filter repro ( as I still have mine that I built in 1976). I will give a comparison when I purchase it.

Simple module but works well and is good value

This module is very simple, but it works well. I think its good value. I wasn't clear on the point of the master volume pot, but it turns out really useful, as the amplitude of the combined waveform does go up and down depending on how you mix them. Some constructive thoughts: 1) As other reviewers have mentioned, some instructions about the mods would have made it 5 star review. I chose to use 2.54mm pitch pin headers instead of flexible hookup wires. They line up with the switches/holes in the daughter board perfectly (remove 3 pins between each pin). 2) I made my own double headed power cable to power both modules off the same outlet on my bus board. If the power connector on the module was the same orientation as the one on the Behringer 1004 module, this would have been much easier and neater. As it it was, I had to put in a bit of 'twist' to the power cable.

The user manual with detailed installations instructions is online now - apologies for the delay. The idea to have the power socket orientation changed is a good one and we will get this done on the next batch of PCB's - and include a double power cable. Many thanks for the feedback!
