OVERVIEW This 12HP module is a re-imagining of the EMS VCS3 low-pass filter which is built around a 4-stage diode ladder. It has a cutoff range between 16Hz - 16kHz and goes into self oscillation. The "Snowfall" filter was originaly designed in the winter of 2011 when there was a large snow fall in Sussex and the module was released into production in September of that year.
15 years later we have reworked the design to SMD and carefully recreated the original character.
DESCRIPTION The AM1007 has been carefully engineered to replicate the original filter as closely as possible:
- Large number of inputs (3x audio, 4x CV)
- Matched transistor pairs in the ladder filter driver and buffers
- PPS 2% ladder capacitors
- Voltage controlled resonance added
- A toggle switch selects whether control voltage LAG is on or off
- TL071 op amps act as buffers to the signal and control levels
- V/OCT trimmer added for precise frequency tracking
- ARP 2500 control knobs with coloured spun aluminium inlays (Rogan RB-67)
- Black and silver phenolic control knob for frequency cutoff
- Bourns PTL20 LED slide pots with subtle LED's for CV1, CV2 and QCV depth
The AM1007 has the original warm saturated EMS diode ladder sound, coupled with an amazing aluminum printed front panel design.
CONNECTIONS There are eight 3.5 mm jack sockets on the anodised aluminium front panel:
- IN 1, 2 & 3 - audio signal inputs with individual level control
- CV 1, 2 & 3 - 1V/octave control voltage inputs for filter cutoff
- CVQ - for adjusting filter resonance
- OUTPUT - audio signal output
There are high quality Alpha rotary potentiometers for adjusting frequency cutoff, resonance and the three signal input levels, along with Bourns LED slide potentiometers for frequency modulation from CV 1, CV2 and CV3 inputs, and resonance depth from CVQ.
The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard 10 to 16-way Doepfer power cable.
