AM8113 VCO & Wave Shaper

OVERVIEW The AM8113 is a completely new complex VCO design for the 100M eco-system and is inspired by the discontinued Instruo Troika. An ultra stable VCO delivers four waveforms that can be mixed and blended to create complex wave shapes, by using two wave shapers to create new sounds!

DESCRIPTION The VCO is based on the SSI2131chip which delivers Triangle, Sawtooth and Pulse waveforms. A sine wave converter produces a fouth waveform. The waves are fed into two parallal wave shapers (WAVE and WAVE B) that mix two of the waves together using the slide potentiometers. The source waves are selected using a slide switch.

The WAVE A and B waveforms are available separately on jack sockets, and a combination is available on the MIX output. This output is a switch between WAVE A and WAVE B in realtime and is activated by;

Pushing the MANUAL push button
Connecting a Eurorack gate signal
Using the internal or an external waveform (as it cross zero)

The subtle green LED sliders indicate which wave shaper is active in the MIX output.

The frequency of the VCO can be controlled manually across 5 octaves by the FREQUENCY potentiometer. In NORMAL mode this is 32Hz (C1) to 1024Hz (C5), and in LFO mode from 0.6Hz to 40Hz. The frequency can also be adjusted over ± 6 semtitones by the FINE control, and modulated by an external CV (FM MOOD).

The VCO has sync with two strengths (weak, strong) selected by a slide switch.

There are short trimmer pots for the WAVE A and WAVE B levels and the Pulse Width/PWM. The module is designed to generate signals at 10V p-t-p and to be controlled by CV signals from 0 - 10V. There are green LED's on the wave shaper potentiometers, whichh represent which wave is active in the MIX output.
