4 HP Module | AM997 Trigger Converter | User Manual (PDF) | Modular Grid

OVERVIEW This is a 4HP module with two channels of V-Trigger to S-Trigger converters. There are  two S-Trigger front panel outputs and one internal S-Trigger output for each channel. A red LED for each channel, illuminates when a V-Trigger is present at the input.

DESCRIPTION The 997 provides a cheaper alternative to the Behringer 961 for converting V-Trigger signals such as Gate signals generated by keyboards or sequencers. The internal connections are designed to work with the AMSynths AM993 module, as S-Trigger inputs.

The module is complements the Behringer System 55 Modular System, with a black anodised aluminum 4HP panel. There is a standard 10-pin Doepfer power connector on the rear of the module.

CONNECTIONS There are six 3.5 mm jack sockets on the front panel, for Channel 1 and 2:

  •     1x V-Trigger input
  •     2x S-Trigger outputs

The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard Doepfer power cable. For 2024 the panel has been upgraded with a higher quality black and silver finish.

Indispensable utility for the Behringer System 55
5/5
John Rofrano
The AMSynths AM997 Dual Trigger Converter enabled new capabilities for my Behringer System 55 modular. Most people probably buy it to replace the much larger 961 Interface and it does a great job of replacing that. But I purchased it to allow me to replace the Behringer CM1A MIDI Converter with a more capable Erica Synths Black MIDI-CV which gives me the same two CV and Gates and also Clock, Mod, and Portamento/Glide which are missing from the CM1A. The AM997 works along side it converting those 2 Gates into 4 S-Trigs. The significance of this is that I would always plug the CM1A Trig outputs into a multiple because I need two triggers each, one for the VCA ADSR and one for the VCF ADSR. Because the AM997 turns 1 V-Trig into 2 S-Trigs, I no longer need to use a multiple or extra patch cables. I have the two Gates from the Black MIDI-CV connected to the two V-Trig inputs of the AM997 and the 4 S-Trig outputs of the AM997 go to the 4 x 911 Envelope Generators giving me true polyphony of dual CV/VCF/VCA/ADSRs. (see photos) The AM997 has been giving me solid triggering and I highly recommend it for anyone who owns a Behringer System 55 modular that needs more S-Triggers, or wants to replace the CM1A with a different MIDI converter, and not loose the S-Trig capabilities you need.
Does what I need

Because of Behringer's choice to stay authentic with S-Trig on their EG's, a converter for V-Trig is required. Their solution, while great, is way too big. This module does exactly what I need without taking up major space. Excellent build quality.
