AM1631 Dual Ring Modulator

OVERVIEW This module is a recreation of the Moog Dual Ring Modulator that Keith Emerson commissioned from Bob Moog in the 1970's. There are no origianl schematics so the circuit is an approximation using ideas from the Moog Bode Frequency Shifter and the Roland 700 Modular.

DESCRIPTION The AM1631 uses a pair of LM1496 modulation IC's, and a 1458 Dual Op Amp. The module delivers a superb sound with ringing bell tones across a wide frequency sprectrum.

Each ring modulator has a level control for the B input and a orange flat top LED showing the signal output level.

The module is available in two versions;

• Silver Panel - Eurorack gain structure (5V to 10V signals)
• Black Panel - Moog gain structure (2.6V signals)

CONNECTIONS There are six 3.5 mm jack sockets on the front panel:

• 2x audio inputs for each Ring Modulator
• 1x audio output for each Ring Modulator

The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard Doepfer power cable.

2024 MODEL The front panel has been upgraded with an improved black finish, and the correct silver graphics and silver edge strips. The price has been reduced by a massive 40% to £75!
