AM1631 Dual Ring Modulator
8 HP | AM1631 Dual Ring Modulator | User Manual (PDF) | You Tube
OVERVIEW This module is a recreation of the Moog Dual Ring Modulator that Keith Emerson commissioned from Bob Moog in the 1970's. There are no original schematics so the circuit is an approximation using ideas from the Moog Bode Frequency Shifter and the Roland 700 Modular.
DESCRIPTION The 8HP wide AM1631 uses a pair of LM1496 modulation IC's, and a 1458 Dual Op Amp. The module delivers a superb sound with ringing bell tones across a wide frequency sprectrum.
Each ring modulator has a level control for the B input and an orange flat top LED showing the signal output level. The module works with Behringer Moog modules which have 2.6V p-t-p signals. The modules should not be used with other Eurorack modules (which have larger signal levels), please buy the AM1035 Triple Modulator instead!
CONNECTIONS There are six 3.5 mm jack sockets on the front panel:
- 2x audio inputs for each Ring Modulator
- 1x audio output for each Ring Modulator
The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, and a standard Doepfer power cable.
2024 MODEL The module has been upgraded with an etched black anodised aluminum panel with the correct silver graphics and silver edge strips. Moog style knobs have been fitted.
