OVERVIEW This module is a recreation of the Moog 993 Triggers and Envelope Control module from 1968. The AM993 is a signal routing module for V-triggers coming from one, two or three controllers (keyboards, sequencers). The 993 is an essential module for any larger Moog replica, and was available in the original IIIc and System 55.
DESCRIPTION Two slide switches (red LED's) labelled FROM 1 and FROM 2 at the top of the panel connect the external V-Triggers into the signal routing. There are six slide switches that control the routing out of the module. The lower three left hand column switches (orange LED's) route the trigger signal as follows:
- Upper Switch - to left 911 with no delay
- Center Switch - to center 911 via delay set by upper 911A
- Lower Switch - to the right 911 via delay set by lower 911A
The right hand switches (with green LED's) connect the control voltages from the 911's to their respective 902 Voltage Controlled Amplifiers; Left to left, center to center, right to right.
The AM994 2024 Edition The updated AM993 has three additional features; The 911A input can be connected to a third S-Trigger input, the 911 Center and 911 Right Env Generators can be triggered directly by V-trigger 3 input (with no delay).
The AM993 PCB has a standard 12V power inlet socket, eight slide switches and eight LED’s. The module connects to the Behringer 902, 911 and 911A via included ribbon cables. There is a small daughter board PCB that attaches to the back of each of these modules. The Behringer jack sockets are not normalised, so no PCB traces need to be cut to install the AM993.
The customer only needs to solder wires to the various Behringer jack sockets from the daughter board PCB’s. This is an easy job for someone competent in soldering and instructions are included with the module. There is a picture of this within the product pictures above.
AM-CP1 Control Panel A companion module (AM-CP1) can be used to connect three pairs of external CV and V-Trigger signals to the AM993 using an internal ribbon cable. The AM993 converts these V-Triggers to S-Triggers. The AM992 and/or AM996 can also be connected to the AM-CP1.
The AM993 module is designed to complement the Behringer System 55 Modular System. The 2mm black aluminum panel has been etched with the lettering and graphics, just like the Moog original. The module comes with a set of M3 mounting screws and washers, four 6-way ribbon cables, and a standard Doepfer power cable.
